I am a Māori clay artist based in Tairāwhiti, creating handcrafted ceramic pieces inspired by whenua, culture, and everyday life.
My creative journey with clay has grown through a love of making, storytelling, and connection to culture and whenua.
A unique approach to handcrafted ceramics
What makes my ceramics unique is the dedication to crafting each piece by hand, imbuing it with a sense of purpose and history.
My artistic style bridges the gap between functional and sculptural, ensuring that every item is not only beautiful but also holds a story.
I believe in creating ceramics that resonate with both tradition and modern aesthetics, bringing a touch of Gisborne, New Zealand, into homes around the world.
Kaupapa Māori and Scottish ancestry guiding my craft
My work is deeply influenced by kaupapa Māori values, which are central to my artistic philosophy and business. These values emphasize community, respect for the environment and a commitment to authenticity. Alongside this my Scottish ancestry weaves in a layer of heritage, creating unique pieces that speak to a blend of cultures. While I haven´t detailed specific values here, rest assured they permeate every aspect of my creative process from the materials I choose to the stories I tell through my art.
